When I found out that the English language has few words for dried grapes: raisins, currants and Sultanas, I felt almost proud. This exotic, manifestly oriental word “Sultana” had made its way into the classical vocabulary! Out of pure etymological curiosity, I started chasing the name of these seedless golden drops across the maps and stories and collecting the pieces of information, as tiny as sultanas themself.
