Module 1. Introduction and our winemaking evolution: from Asia Minor to modern Türkiye
How winemaking in Anatolia began, the key milestones in its evolution, and why now is the perfect moment to dive into Turkish wines.
Module 2. Main influences and Turkish viticultural areas (TVA) concept
Learn the main natural influences that shape grape growing and wine production in Türkiye, and get familiar with the key Turkish viticultural areas.
Module 3. Grape varieties and wine styles
Which grapes deserve attention? What to try first? Indigenous and international varieties, the development of local wine styles, and the most recent ideas from Turkish winemakers.
Module 4. How to read Turkish wine labels and assess the quality level
How to read Turkish labels and assign the quality level without an appellation (AOC) system; an introduction to the market, key players, and trends.
Module 5. The best introduction of Turkish wines to guests and clients: pair with flavors, stories and memories
Sommeliers share their most successful flavor-pairing discoveries; winemakers share the stories behind the bottles; and even Dionysos dives into memories of time spent in Asia Minor. All the pieces of the puzzle for a successful introduction of Turkish wines to guests and clients.
Module 6. Final practical project: Design a Turkish wine event
Location, format, theme, wine list and menu, budget, audience. The best events will be supported by Turkish wine producers (and Dionysos himself!) and hosts can be invited on an educational tour to Türkiye.
