When I found out that the English language has few words for dried grapes: raisins, currants and Sultanas, I felt almost proud. This exotic, manifestly oriental word “Sultana” had made its way into the classical vocabulary! Out of pure etymological curiosity, I started chasing the name of these seedless golden drops across the maps and stories and collecting the pieces of information, as tiny as sultanas themself. So it evolved into my favorite story to tell during the Turkish wine tastings....
